Science Backed

What are Exosomes?

In youth, the skin boasts abundant natural stem cell populations, acting as a robust frontline defence mechanism for the body. This abundance contributes to its superior ability to combat aging. However, with age, the skin's responsiveness to repair signals diminishes, evident in delayed healing processes such as slower scar recovery.

Stem cells release tiny vesicles, known as exosomes or extracellular vesicles (EVs), ranging from approximately 30 to 150 nanometers in size. Harnessing exosomes in skincare is crucial due to their superior ability to permeate the skin, enhance absorption, and shield active skincare ingredients.

Upon penetrating the skin, exosomes emulate the body's innate healing mechanisms. They prove particularly beneficial in addressing skin damage and the extrinsic aging effects induced by daily environmental stressors like pollution and UV radiation. Exosomes aid in promoting improved blood circulation while stimulating the skin's natural collagen and elastin production, resulting in a visibly rejuvenated, healthier complexion.

How Do Exosomes Benefits The Skin?

As we age, our skin cells undergo atrophy, and our bodies produce fewer exosomes, similar to the decline in collagen production. This process results in sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles. Exosome therapy introduces new exosomes to rejuvenate inactive skin cells and revitalize older exosomes, enabling them to resume their roles in repairing, strengthening, and rejuvenating the skin.

Through exosome therapy, collagen and elastin production increases, wound healing improves, and pigment production decreases. Consequently, the skin appears plumper, firmer, brighter, and smoother.

An intriguing aspect of exosomes is their continuous activity for six to eight months post-treatment. Additionally, it accelerates recovery time and enhances the effectiveness of cosmetic procedures, potentially reducing the required number of treatments.
